Official opening of the Paris Book Fair, during which Ukraine is represented by a separate stand for the first time, was held 21st March in France. The Foundation “Open Ukraine” provided support for the presentation of Ukrainian literature. On the opening day of the fair, one of the first visitors to Ukrainian stand became French President François Hollande.
Writer’s main ambition is to ensure that your books encourage more books because culture should be an avalanche. This view was expressed by the world famous Ukrainian writer Oksana ZABUZHKO during a meeting of the Art Club “Faces”.
On the 24th of January as part of Art Club “Faces” was held celebratory musical evening of vocal ensemble ConCord. Talented singers presented the audience Christmas songs of different nations, pop hits, jazz songs and original a cappella works.
Sponsored by Arseniy Yatsenyuk ‘Open Ukraine’ Foundation, Maryna Zheleznyak, the film director-documentarian visited Reykjavik. During her stay in Iceland the filmmaker attended lectures on video editing by Valdis Oskarsdottir, the local professional, as well as finished montage of her feature length documentary film Hryhoriy Ivanovych under Valdis’ supervision. This film will be presented in Ukraine in the early 2013. Valdis Oskarsdottir – one of the most interesting film editors in Europe. In due time Valdis cooperated with Lars von Trier and Thomas Vinterberg.
With the support of Arseniy Yatsenyuk Foundation “Open Ukraine” Odessa’s cellists duet “Violoncellissimo” performed a concert at the National Ukraine Cultural Centre in Moscow and took part in the International Theater Festival, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Russian Futurism.
Arseniy Yatsenyuk Foundation “Open Ukraine” provided travel grants to Andriy Kurkov and Lyubko Deresh for participation in the 24th Festival of European Literature, held in November 2012 in Cognac (France). This year Ukraine, despite the fact that it’s not a member of the European Union, was present as the festival’s guest of honor.
19 November in Kyiv started the first session of the Art Club “Faces”, a new project of the Arseniy Yatsenyuk Foundation “Open Ukraine” and the creative place “Chasopys.” The project aims to promote contemporary Ukrainian and foreign art among young people and reduce the divide between celebrities and their fans, giving the ability to connect with the already known and new names in the cultural sphere. The first guest of the club – well-known writer Serhiy ZHADAN. The new face of the club – young pianist Alevtyna DOBINA.
Arseniy Yatsenyuk Open Ukraine Foundation is initiating new cultural project – Art Club “Faces”. The main goal of the project is creating permanent platform for communication with Ukrainian and foreign artists for popularization of modern art among Ukrainians.
Arseniy Yatsenyuk Open Ukraine Foundation in the framework of “Cultural Horizons” Program gave travel grant to Nataliya Danshyn, the head of the vocal ensemble of ancient music „Vox animae”, for participation in international festival „Oude Muziek” which was held in August, 2012 in the Netherlands.
On the support of Arseniy Yatsenyuk Open Ukraine Foundation honored artist of Ukraine, singer and poetress Lesya Gorova visited Turkey, where she presented her songs during the “Days of Ukrainian culture in Antalya”
