News - Travel grants for artists
In May 2014 the regular Cannes International Film Festival was held, which is one of the most important cinematic events of the year. Supported by the Open Ukraine Foundation, film director and screenwriter Olena Fetisova, whose the first full length film “Parajanov” received in 2013-2014 the awards of many international film festivals, has made a professional trip to this leading event in film industry.
Supported by the Open Ukraine Foundation, Ukrainian poet, novelist and journalist Oleh Kotsarev participated in «Poetical Spring» Literature Festival that was held on 27 May - 3 June in Vilnius.
From 4 to 11 May, supported by Arseniy Yatsenyuk Open Ukraine Foundation Halyna Kryvorchuk, director of VIATEL studio, producer of «Game of Fame» TV serial, scriptscreen author for the film "Valse Brillante.Olga Kobylynska" took part in the project "Common history. Related relations in the history of two neighbouring nations».
The Open Ukraine Foundation provided a travel grant to Maryna Zubko to participate in a rehearsal contest to win internship with youth troupe of National Opera of Paris. The 5th year graduate student of vocal faculty of the Ukrainian National Tchaikovsky Academy of Music have passed to the second round (37 out of 278 participants have been selected).
Supported by Arseniy Yatsenyuk Open Ukraine Foundation poet Yuriy Zavadskiy participated in International Poetry Festival “Poems on the pavement” dedicated to the memory of Mikhas Straltsov. The event was held in Minsk from 14 to 16 February of 2014.
Arseniy Yatsenyuk Open Ukraine Foundation provided support to the first German-Ukrainian workshop of literary translation ‘ViceVersa’. The event was led by two prominent translators from Ukrainian and German sides – Claudia Date and Nelya Vakhovska, and was hold at the premises of Literary Colloquium Berlin (LCB) on the shore of Wannsee lake in November. The activity hosted five German and five Ukrainian translators and lasted five days.
With the support of Arseniy Yatsenyuk Open Ukraine Foundation filmmaker Natalia Ilchuk participated in The Northern Wave Festival where she presented her short film "Self-Portrait".
From 6 to 20 October 2013, supported by the Open Ukraine Foundation, Maryna Hrymych, Ukrainian writer and translator, laureate of the “Coronation of the Word” (2002) Maryna Hrymych from 6 to 20 October 2013 attended workshops on contemporary Ukrainian literature as part of the activities at Literarisches Colloquium Berlin, and attended Frankfurt Book Fair.
Iryna Berezhko, an artists, curator and promoter of the Myths and Legends of the Eastern Europe exhibition, visited the opening of her curatorial project in Amsterdam with the support of the Arseniy Yatsenyuk Open Ukraine Foundation. A Ukrainian artist, she made it her aim to familiarise Westerners with the myths and legends of the new Ukraine, which are being formed by contemporary Ukrainian artists.
With the support of Arseniy Yatsenyuk Open Ukraine Foundation Tchaikovsky NMAU student Dadykina Darya in August 2013 participated in master courses of Austrian pianist and Professor Lang and Italian Professor Fabio Bidini.
