With the support of the Open Ukraine Foundation, between 18 August and 8 September performer Lina Romanuha participated in the Summer Academy initiated by Мoving Аcademy for Рerforming Аrts (MAPA).

Summer Academy is a series of intensive master classes for young artists engaged in the performing arts (musicians, dancers, performers and scene designers). The training is based on the concept and principles of physical theatre.

This year’s Summer Academy international theatre programme was held between 18 August and 8 September on the basis of the Young Ones theatre in Zwolle, the Netherlands. The project included a series of intensive master classes and shows delivered within the framework of Stadsfestival, Gogolfest and Conservatorium van Amsterdam. The training was delivered for three weeks on the basis of The Young Ones theatre.

At the training sessions, participants mastered stage lightning, projection techniques and the fundamentals of scenic design.

Among those twelve who took the master classes there were five participants from Ukraine. Participants from Ukraine were asked numerous questions in light of the recent developments in Kyiv and the situation in the eastern regions. Therefore, according to Lina Romanuha, participants were actively involved in information activities in addition to artistic ones.

Ukrainian participants intend to create a joint project based on the knowledge and skills they gained from the master classes. Long-run expectations include a three-year international project to set up a mobile theatre school in Ukraine.
