The conference is a final event of the Book Platform project in Ukraine, which is being implemented with the support of “Culture” program of the EU Eastern Partnership, and is one of the first public events after the Revolution of Dignity. The event is dedicated to discussing public policy in booking industry of the country.
Writers, publishers, booksellers, government representatives, media, librarians, translators, journalists, critics, literature experts, cultural managers and civic leaders are invited to participate in the conference. They will discuss and express their views on topical issues: Developing main principles of the government policy in book publishing industry:
- Who? What? When? Why? And for what money?
- What can be done by book industry representatives for efficient implementation of the government policy?
During the conference, Director of the Book Institute in Krakow Grzegorz Gauden will speak and make presentation on experience of reforming the state policy in book industry that is implemented in Poland.
Presentation of results of survey on reading habits and attitude to reading will be a major component of the conference. The survey was carried out in 2013-2014 by pro.mova company at the request of NGO “Book Forum” as part of Book Platform project.
The outcome of the conference will be a concluding guidance document to be further presented to the authorities of Ukraine in order to form the government policy in book industry.
