Contest for participation in Summer School: "Virtualization of Social Consciousness"

The Arseniy Yatsenyuk Open Ukraine Foundation invites you to participate in Summer School "Virtualization of Social Consciousness", which will take place on the 14-16 of August 2019 in Kyiv.

Summer School "Virtualization of Social Consciousness" is a 3-day educational-training program designed to teach the youth to critically analyze information, utilize the most effective methods and tests and avoid the spread of fake news and information.

The Summer School program includes trainings, lessons, the development of skills for effective work with information, as well as interactions with trainers and experts in the field of information policy.

The main goals of Summer School:

- demonstrate the relevance of the issues in the field of information security and emphasize its role in the formation of a peaceful and secure society;

- identify what makes up a citizen’s media field of vision and familiarize the participants with the most common manipulation technology;

- motivate young activists to develop critical thinking;

- create a team of like-minded individuals to fight against fake news and manipulative technology;

- develop leadership skills in the participants;

- stimulate the creation of business relationship among summer school participants.

For participation in Summer School we invite individuals ages 18-28 – students, NGO representatives, young specialists.

The deadline for submitting applications: July 30th (until 12:00).

Results of the selection process will be announced: July 31st. The number of participants is limited.

Working language: Ukrainian

The organizers encourage participants from other regions to apply. Travel expenses are covered by the organizers. Participants are provided accommodation and meals as a part of Summer School.

Stopfake.org is a fact checking site launched on March 2, 2014 by Kyiv Mohyla Journalism School lecturers, graduates and students along with the KMA Digital Future of Journalism. Journalists, editors, IT specialists, translators, all those who cared about the future of Ukraine during this dangerous time of the annexation of Crimea and the war in eastern Ukraine joined the project. Initially the goal of the project was to verify and refute disinformation and propaganda about events in Ukraine being circulated in the media. Eventually the project grew into an information hub where we examine and analyze all aspects of Kremlin propaganda.
