Discussion Club «Open World» with the associate fellow of the «Chatham House» James Sherr

The Arseniy Yatsenyuk Open Ukraine Foundation within the Discussion Club «Open World» invites to the meeting with the associate fellow of the Russia and Eurasia program at the Royal Institute of International Affairs «Chatham House» (UK) James Sherr.

The meeting will take place on Tuesday 06th December, at 19:00, creative space «INVERIA» (Volodymyrska str., 49a).

The theme of the meeting – «Russian policy after American elections».

During the meeting we will discuss how the results of US presidential elections influence the security situation in the world, our region, and, particularly, the foreign policy of Russia; whether the new administration of US President changes the current foreign policy; what will be the US policy towards Europe and Ukraine and what to expect from the Kremlin in the development of Russian-American relations?

On the basis of this discussion, we want to receive a vision of how to develop an effective opposition to security threats because of the new conditions.

The working language of the meeting is English.

James Sherr is the associate fellow and former head of the Russia and Eurasia program at the Royal Institute of International Affairs «Chatham House» (UK). He was a member of the Social Studies Faculty of Oxford University to 2012. Mr. Sherr is also a visiting fellow at the Razumkov Center (Kyiv) and senior researcher for the Institute of Public Administration. From 1995 to 2008 he was a fellow at the  Advanced Research & Assessment Group, UK Defence Academy, in 1999-2000 he was the advisor to the Defense Committee of the House of Commons and the director of studies at the Royal United Services Institute in 1983-1985. Over the last twenty years, he has advised the British government, NATO, EU on events in Russia and Ukraine and for several years worked in close cooperation with Ukraine on defense and security sector reform. He is a permanent member of the Black Sea and Russian security program at Harvard Kennedy School, a member of the Valdai Club.

Discussion Club «Open World» is an educational project of the «Open Ukraine» Foundation for socially active young people. Its goal is to raise a new generation of responsible leaders. Every month the Foundation holds lectures with renowned experts, politicians and public figures, during which they discuss ways of effective solutions to social problems in Ukraine and in the world.
